PHUKET, Thailand – An Irish national has been found dead in a lagoon in Phuket, prompting a full police investigation into the circumstances surrounding his demise. The body of 28-year-old S. J. R. L. was discovered floating in a water reservoir in the Cherng Talay area on Thursday morning.

One Boy Rescued from Drowning, One Still Missing in Phuket Lagoon

Authorities were alerted to the incident at approximately 11:00 a.m. on August 6 after the body was spotted in the Laguna water reservoir located in Moo 6, Thalang district. Officers from the Cherng Talay Police Station responded to the scene, accompanied by forensic specialists, a medical examiner, and rescue volunteers from the Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation, who recovered the remains from the water for a formal examination.

While an initial on-site assessment was conducted, officials have not yet determined the exact cause of death. Investigators are currently working to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy by reviewing local closed-circuit television footage, gathering physical evidence, and interviewing potential witnesses in the area.
